Local 372 Member Benefits
The Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 372 Welfare and Pension Funds were established with the purpose of providing health insurance, retirement benefits and supplemental retirement income for its members. Our commitment is to provide benefits and services that improve the quality of life of our members and their families.
The Welfare Fund has grown to offer comprehensive health benefits, life insurance, and disability and dismemberment insurance. Our plan is proud to follow strict HIPAA Privacy Rules.
Blue Cross / Blue Shield of Alabama is the provider of our healthcare services which include any single participant and full family participants. This plan also covers Dental insurance.
The Local 372 Pension Plan was implemented in the 80's, and has been providing benefits to our members for over 30 years. The purpose of the plan is to provide a retirement income for the member, supplementing Social Security Benefits, following the time the member retires from active employment in the plumbing and steamfitting trades in our area. Our members are eligible to retire as early as age 62, and in order to meet the needs of our members, we offer many different pension options.
The United Association Pension Plan was implemented in 1996 and provides retirement benefits for the members of the United Association. The plan is a collectively bargained plan funded by a Taft-Hartley trust fund.
Supplemental Benefit Plan was implemented in 2020 and provides reimbursement for some medical expenses that are out of pocket costs to the member that are not fully covered by the health plan. Examples include copays, vision expenses that include exams, glasses and contacts, prescription copays etcetera. This reimbursement plan helps with things that any health plan doesn't cover.
The Local 372 Vacation Fund is a savings plan to supplement loss time wages and can be used for the members personal needs.
Free College for Members and their Families is a program through Union Plus that offers free college courses through Eastern Gateway Community College. This program is there to help families continue their education without any financial burden to them or their family members.
Alabama Administrators Office manages all of our welfare funds for Local Union 372.
